FIRST ON FOX: The Same protection project, The company, founded and led by Cornell professor William Jacobson, has released a detailed report on the dissemination of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) training at Ivy League universities.
In his comprehensive report, “Poison Ivies: DEI and the Downfall of the Ivy League,” Jacobson examines programs that the eight Ivy League institutions utilize and require for students.
“Our review of Ivy League practices CriticalRace.org “The project reflects significant efforts by Ivy League schools to purport to comply with the Supreme Court’s affirmative action ruling while maintaining workarounds and DEI practices that perpetuate the obsession with racial identities,” Jacobson told Fox News Digital.

In his report, Jacobson shows how Ivy League institutions are circumventing the Ivy League’s June 29, 2023 ruling Supreme Court This means that race cannot be taken into account when making university admission decisions.
“Ivy League universities claim not to consider race but then offer options for essay questions.” for students to talk about their race,” he said.
“The Supreme Court’s affirmative action ruling occurred in the context of college admissions, but it is clear that the Court’s opinion was, at its core, a decision on the Equal Protection Clause that applies in other college contexts as well.”
The findings
In his report, Jacobson found that of the eight Ivy League universities:
- Four require DEI training in student orientation programs (Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale).
- Six require faculty or staff to have some level of DEI training (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Penn, Princeton, and Yale).
- All eight have DEI offices at the institutional and/or department level.
- Five have a strategic plan on DEI or anti-racism (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, and Yale).
- All eight have DEI or CRT (critical race theory) topics in their courses and curricula.
- All eight have bias reporting systems.
Jacobson said he found this while the universities They pretend they don’t take race into account, but in practice they often do.
“Ivy League universities pretend not to consider race, but then offer students the opportunity to talk about their race in essays,” he said.
“It is hard to believe that in environments where DEI is the dominant ideology and takes on a quasi-religious fervor, that race actually plays no role in admissions decisions, even if there is just window dressing to provide possible legal protection. “
Brown University
The report found that all departments at Brown require a multi-year plan for DEI.
Columbia University
In their orientation programming, students have in Columbia complete their “Inclusion & Belonging” program, which, according to Jacobson, “includes concepts such as inclusion, diversity, equity, allyship and bias.”
Cornell University
At Cornell University, the student group DoBetterCornell is involved in developing an educational requirement that focuses on issues such as systemic racism, bias, colonialism and inequality.
Additionally, Jacobson noted that in 2024, the Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures was launched, which focuses on anti-Black racism.
Dartmouth University
All Dartmouth University students are required to take a culture and identity course.
Harvard University
Harvard has an Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, which includes the Inclusive Teaching Institute, dedicated to training faculty and staff to integrate inclusive teaching.
Princeton University
At Princeton, the report says all staff, student leaders and faculty involved in graduate admissions and hiring are required to take a culture and difference course and DEI training.
University of Pennsylvania
Penn requires a cultural diversity course for all undergraduate students and an intercultural perspective course for all Wharton students.
The University of Michigan could eliminate the DEI program
In 2022 the Ivy League introduced DEI and environmental, social, and governance factors for business majors and concentrations (ESGB) for Wharton students as majors and undergraduate programs.
Jacobson noted that Penn also has a program called Projects for Progress, which offers grants of up to $100,000 for projects that focus on issues such as systemic racism.
Yale University
Yale has a requirement that every school and administrative department have a five-year plan for DEI, Jacobson reported.
The Equal Protection Project focuses on combating racial discrimination. The organization has challenged over 100 scholarships and programs that discriminate against white and Asian students at universities across the country.
