Elon Musk has questioned whether the United States should “free the British people from their tyrannical government” after taking on top British lawmakers.
In recent days, the tech billionaire and top adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump has taken to social media to express his displeasure with the British government, sparking a war of words between the Tesla boss and a British government official has.

On Friday, Musk accused British Security Minister Jess Phillips of being a “rape-genocide apologist” before publishing a series of posts calling for Prime Minister Keir Starmer to be ousted and face prison time for nanny gangs and others Criminals targeting children have been prosecuted.
Musk’s comments came after Phillips rejected calls for a government-led inquiry into child sexual exploitation in the town of Oldham.
Before embarking on a political career, Starmer served as head of the UK Crown Prosecution Service and led the Crown Prosecution Service during the country’s child rape gang scandal.
A spokesperson for Phillips could not immediately be reached for comment when contacted by CNBC.
“On the question of Elon Musk… it’s a really important set of issues. The sexual exploitation of children is absolutely abhorrent,” Starmer said in response to a question during a press conference on Monday. “(But) those who spread lies and misinformation as far and wide as possible — they’re not interested in victims, they’re interested in themselves.”
British Health Secretary Wes Streeting called Musk’s attack on Phillips a “disgraceful slander” over the weekend.
“Keir Starmer and Jess Phillips, who have both suffered completely unwarranted criticism, have done more in their professional lives than most people will ever do to lock up pedophiles, rapists, wife beaters and every other scumbag in our society,” said he said in an interview with the BBC.
Musk’s criticism of the British government over the weekend culminated in a poll in which he introduced the concept of “liberating the British people” to the platform’s users.
