Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-N.C., dismissed Elon Musk’s statement about funding moderates in key Democratic districts, saying he doesn’t know anyone in his party who is afraid of Musk’s “money.”
CNN’s Victor Blackwell asked Clyburn on Saturday about Musk’s statement posted on X and wondered how Democrats would respond to Musk’s possible financial involvement in the Democratic election.
“Well, you overload them. That’s what you do. You’re at work now. Look, I’m a child of the 60s. I grew up here in South Carolina. I missed a vote yesterday because I was at the eulogy.” “The gentleman from a very humble background who took the flag down from the dome of the State House and started the effort all over the South to get rid of all those Confederate emblems. We did this with a lot of money against us,” Clyburn began.
Musk posted On social media, he responded to a video from Rep. Richard Neal, D-Mass., saying, “I forgot to mention that I will also be funding moderate candidates in heavily Democratic districts so the country can get rid of them.” which they do not represent.

“When I worked for John Lewis in the 60s there was a lot of money and power against us. We did what we had to do. And I don’t know a single Democrat who is afraid of Elon Musk’s money because we stay close to our voters and we will surpass him,” he added.
Prominent Democrats and media figures in recent weeks have viewed Musk as the real president, not Trump, and criticized the billionaire for his role in government as an unelected official.
CNN’s Scott Jennings weighed in sharply on Democrats’ criticism of Musk’s role in the administration, saying they should read the Wall Street Journal’s coverage of President Biden on Thursday, which said that people were already very early in his presidency noticed problems with Biden’s stamina.
“Unelected people have been running the government for four years. “I hear Democrats criticizing the influence of billionaires in our politics when this Soros punk goes around collecting Democratic politicians like my kids collect Pokémon cards,” Jennings said.
“I think all the criticism of Musk from the left is completely hypocritical and completely overblown,” he added.

Clyburn, a close Biden ally, also helped convince the president to pardon his son Hunter Biden, despite saying for months he would not issue the pardon.
“I completely agree with that. I don’t know how many people pushed him to do it, but I did it,” Clyburn revealed in another CNN appearance.
When CNN’s Laura Coates asked him about Biden’s reaction, Clyburn replied: “He seemed a little reserved about it, but I emphasized the fact that as fathers we have responsibilities to our children.”
