Recent reports of unidentified flying objects, specifically drones, have emerged from New Jersey and surrounding states, prompting an investigation by federal authorities.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are currently looking into numerous sightings of these enigmatic drones, which have been reported by residents across various states over the past month. Locations such as California, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia have all reported sightings. Notably, at least one airport was temporarily closed last week due to drone-related incidents.
Federal officials have assured the public that there is no immediate security threat associated with these sightings. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas stated on Sunday, “We are aware of no foreign involvement regarding the sightings in the northeast. We are actively investigating this issue, with the FBI taking the lead.”
This week, the House Intelligence Committee is scheduled to receive a briefing concerning the drone sightings. Representative Jim Himes, a Democratic member of the committee, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current lack of information. “Many of us are quite frustrated at this moment,” Himes remarked. “The response of ‘we don’t know’ is insufficient when people are feeling anxious and uneasy, a sentiment that has persisted throughout human history.” He further clarified, “It is not the Iranians, nor the Chinese. They are not Martians.”
Residents of New Jersey have been particularly perplexed and concerned as a cluster of these mysterious drones began appearing in the skies above the state late last month. Now, similar sightings are being reported in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida, California, and other regions.
