President-elect Donald Trump vowed on Sunday to end the country’s “transgender madness” and permanently ban transgender athletes from women’s sports.
Trump spoke at Arizona’s AmericaFest at the Phoenix Convention Center as Inauguration Day of his second term is just weeks away.

“With the stroke of a pen on Day 1, we will stop the transgender madness,” Trump announced to cheers. “And I will sign executive orders to end child mutilation and ban transgender people from the military and from our elementary, middle and high schools.”
“And we’re going to keep men out of women’s sports. And that will also happen on the first day. Should I do Day 1, Day 2 or Day 3? How about day 1? Under the Trump administration, it will be official.” The US government’s policy is that there are only two genders – male and female. That doesn’t sound too complicated, does it?”

Transgender inclusion in women’s sports became a fundamental campaign issue for Trump, as he was the only one of the two candidates to take a hard line against it.
When he accepted the Republican presidential nomination in July, he made his stance clear.
“We will not have men in women’s sports, that will be over immediately,” he said at the time.

He also appeared on Barstool Sports’ “Bussin’ with the Boys” with former NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton and called the idea of trans inclusion in women’s sports “ridiculous.”
