Chef Smith (Image credit: Sammy Moore)

Guinness World Records has looked into the claims of Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith, who claims to have broken the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Chef Smith made the announcement during a press conference at La Hotel on July 2, 2024 and presented a certificate as proof of his achievement.

Chef Smith even went so far as to submit a certificate to defend his claim of breaking the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Watch the video below

During the press conference announcing the alleged success, he stated.

Chef Ebenezer Smith

“I am deeply humbled and honored to announce that I am now the new world record holder in the cooking competition,” he said.

The inscription on his certificate reads: “The longest cooking marathon (individual) lasts 802 hours and 25 minutes and was completed by Ebenezer Smith (Ghanaian) at Spintex, Accra, Ghana. From February 1st to March 6th, 2024.”

In an official reply email from GHone TV, Guinness World Records refuted the claim and confirmed that the record holder for the longest cooking marathon was Alan Fisher from Ireland, who achieved a time of 119 hours, 57 minutes and 16 seconds in Matsue Shimane, Japan from September 28th to October 3rd, 2023.

The reason for this investigation was doubts about the authenticity of Chef Smith’s certificate and the unavailability of entries in the Guinness Book of Records confirming his alleged achievement.

Guinness World Records confirms that Ghanaian Chef Smith “does not hold the GWR title” and that his certificate is not original

An additional update from TV3 Ghana on Guinness World Records confirms that the information is incorrect as they contacted Guinness World Records directly through the X account.

GWR has confirmed to TV3 that Chef Smith is not setting a record for longest cooking time.

Another update from Guinness World Records shows that the cooking marathon record is no longer valid.

GWR has deactivated a number of records for various reasons, for example the fastest violinist record was removed in 2017 due to difficulties in assessing the quality of performances.

According to a report by Asase Fm, Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith has been arrested by the Ghana Police and is currently being held at the La Police Station in Accra.

The details of his arrest are not yet clear, but it comes shortly after Chef Smith announced his recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records for setting the record time in a cooking marathon.

According to additional sources, it was reported that Nana Boroo brought security personnel to the conference venue due to an alleged contract dispute with Smith.

“I think we’ve long since moved past the ‘positive attitude’ thing,” Rodgers said. via SNY. “I think it’s all about perspective. Perspective shapes your truth and your truth shapes your reality.”

“So the reality of the situation is what it is, but your perspective is what you can change every day. Therefore, what you focus on now is the most important thing. It’s not about changing the reality of the situation – being 4-11, eliminated from the playoffs and beginning an unknown offseason.”

Rodgers then talked about what the next two weeks will mean in building the future of the organization.

“You have to figure out what it means to be a professional,” he said. “This is an important part of the building culture. Over the last two weeks we’ve really been able to see who’s on board and who’s ready to get out. That’s just part of the game. I’ve been on a few teams that were eliminated.” It’s interesting to watch the practice habits and the preparation habits.

“Hopefully we do the right thing and that means a lot to us because everyone is watching and it’s a business where everyone knows who it is. There will be interesting conversations over the next few weeks, but just focus on the relationships we have with each other and try to finish things off like a pro.”

The Jets saw dramatic changes throughout the season, from firing their head coach and general manager to a major move by Davante Adams.

The team could see more changes as Garrett Wilson has remained non-committal about his future with the team.

Ghana’s population is expected to reach 33,007,618 in 2024, a 1.07-fold growth compared to 2021 when it was 30,832,019.

This population increase is considered a significant milestone for the country.

According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census, Ghana’s population is 30.8 million.

Forecasts for 2050 predict that there will be a million more women than men in the country

GSS report

The expected demographic change in Ghana, with one million more women than projected by 2050, will have significant impacts on various aspects of Ghanaian society, including economic development, healthcare, social structures and gender dynamics.

The statistics service predicted an annual increase of 711,706 people from 2021 to 2030 and estimated that the population will reach 37.24 million by the end of this decade.

The forecast that there will be one million more women than men in Ghana by 205 should spur policymakers, businesses and society at large to take action

By addressing the challenges and opportunities of this demographic shift, Ghana can realize its potential for positive transformation and long-term progress.

Through initiatives focused on gender equality, healthcare improvements and women’s economic empowerment, Ghana can use this projected inequality as a catalyst for sustainable development and positive change.

Brooke Slusser, star of the San Jose State women’s volleyball team, warned the NCAA after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against the organization over transgender inclusion in women’s sports.

Paxton filed the lawsuit on Sunday, accusing the organization of deceptive marketing practices that allowed transgender women to compete with biological women. Paxton said in a news release that the NCAA violated the Texas Trade Practices Act, “which is designed to protect consumers from companies that attempt to mislead them or entice them to purchase goods or services that are not correspond to the advertising.”

Slusser, who was involved in a lawsuit against her own school and the NCAA for adding a transgender woman to the Spartans’ roster this season, posted about Paxton’s lawsuit.

“Hey NCAA, in case you haven’t noticed, this fight is only going to get harder for you until you make a change!” Slusser wrote about X.

Slusser and other plaintiffs asked a judge last month to issue a temporary restraining order to ban Blaire Fleming from participating in the Mountain West Conference women’s volleyball tournament, but were denied.

San Jose State reached the finals of the tournament, but lost to Colorado State.

Paxton accused the NCAA of “engaging in false, deceptive and misleading practices by marketing sporting events as ‘women’s’ competitions, only to then offer consumers mixed-gender competitions pitting biological men against biological women.”

“The NCAA is intentionally and knowingly endangering the safety and well-being of women by fraudulently converting women’s competitions into co-ed competitions,” Paxton said in a statement. “For example, when people watch a women’s volleyball game, they expect to see women playing against other women – not biological men pretending to be something they are not. Radical ‘gender theory’ has no place in college sports.”

Paxton said he is seeking a court’s issuance of a preliminary injunction to prohibit the NCAA from allowing transgender athletes in women’s sports in Texas or “incorporating Texas teams,” or, alternatively, requiring the NCAA to stop hosting events as “women’s” when they are actually mixed sex competitions,” the press release states.

“College sports are the premier stage for women’s sports in America, and while the NCAA does not comment on pending litigation, the association and its members will continue to promote Title IX, make unprecedented investments in women’s sports, and ensure fair competition at all NCAA championships ensure.” “said the organization.
